PB&J (Protein, Books & Joy) Party
Did you know that there are close to 16 million children who are living in food insecure households?
(Economic Research Service at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), 2013).
Did you also know that 44% of children who live in low-income families meaning they cannot cover basic needs also struggle with literacy issues, because they can’t afford to buy books to help a child learn to read? (National Center for Children in Poverty (NCCP, 2013).
And to top it off research has shown that low-income/poverty “presents children with multiple, compounding sources of stress.” (Future of Children, Spring 2014).
We are asking you to make a difference and get involved.
Dawn is excited to offer a reduction in her speaking fee for any conference, organization or church willing to host a PB&J Party in conjunction with their event.
All you have to do is ask your guests to bring:
- A portable protein snack
- A children’s/youth book
- A joy-filled message of hope or encouragement
Then take some photos and share with us your PB&J success stories.
These items will then be donated to a local food bank/school. Help us spread joy to children everywhere by giving food for their bodies, minds and souls.
